Makuta is the vendor we have to worry about the least. When we have multiple projects due from various vendors, I tell my staff not to worry about the Makuta parts because they will come through, be on time, and have correct parts.
Light's Out
Using state of the art machinery, combined with custom designed robotics, Makuta is able to run 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with only one manned shift. The machines literally run with the “lights out,” enabling Makuta to remain cost competitive with overseas markets. The concepts of lights out manufacturing has been perfected with many unique developments. Makuta has developed many systems to solve the issues of manufacturing without the influence of personnel. For example, all auxiliary equipment is electrically interlocked into the injection molding machines. Therefore, if dryers, thermolaters, or robots fail the machines halt production. Makuta also uses custom conveying chutes which house diverter mechanisms to automatically dispose of parts produced with “out of range” parameters.
